Ghana's population is dominated by the youth. One big advantage to the country is that there's high labour force and the corporate world is supplied with a lot of labour both skilled and unskilled to employ.
The disadvantage of this is that, majority of the these youth are not gainfully employed. More so, industrial companies take advantage of this to pay less wages and salaries to their employees not to talk about the unfavorable working conditions some work under.
As a youth, there are many things you should know after completing high school or national service.
1. Life begins and ends with God.
The Bible says that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. For you to succeed in this life, commit your ways into the hands of God. Don't be part of the youth who have no or little commitments to God. Don't be a part time christian. Your fear of God will go a long way to help you in life. Start your life with Him and your end will be great.
2. Listen to advice.
You may be more educated than your parents and the elderly but you're never experienced than them in all aspects of life. Your parents are your life coaches. Be humble to them and heed their advice and direction.
3. Rome was not built in a day
Life is a process. There's time for everything in life. Even the creation of the world took time. Your youthful exuberance makes you think everything can be achieved in the shortest time. Don't overestimate what you can achieve in a year and underestimate what you can achieve in your lifestime. Be patient and build your future gradually.
4. A stone thrown against a wall comes back to you.
For it is written in the Bible, what you sow is what you reap. God may forgive your sins but the laws of the country will not. The lifestyle or behaviour you put up has its repercussions. Sooner or later, you will face its consequences. The fact that you were not caught red handed does not mean that's the end of it.
5. A time is coming...
Remember you'll never remain a youth. You'll grow old, you'll become a parent someday. A time is coming, you may be the president, minister, member of parliament, a preacher or may even need someone's help. Be careful of how you treat others, for in the same vein people will treat you.Extend a helping hand to the needy, treat everyone nicely as you treat your body.
