Ghanaians will soon queue up on December 7,2020 to elect the next President and Members of Parliament for a term of four years. Even though Ghana's election has been peaceful since the start of democracy, minor electoral violence arise as a result of petty offences committed by some Ghanaians before, during and after the election day.
In order not to be a victim of any electoral offence which can adversely affect your bright future and deny you your current freedom you are enjoying , it is therefore important to know some electoral laws to abide before, during and after the election.
1.It is an offence to knowingly vote more than once at any election.
2.It is an offence to knowingly vote at an election you're not entitled to vote.
3. It is an offence to print a ballot paper for election without authority from the Electoral Commission.
4.It is an offence to take, open or otherwise interfere with a ballot box, ballot paper or pocket of ballot papers in use or intended to be used for the purposes of an election without authority.
5. It is an offence to destroy a ballot paper or pocket a ballot papers in use or intended to be used for the purposes of an election.
6. Any form of unauthorized interference with a ballot box in use or intended to be used for the purposes of an election without authority is an offence.
7. It is an offence to open a ballot box in use or intended to be used for the purposes of an election without authority.
8. It is an offence to knowingly or intentionally put any material into a ballot box other than the ballot paper which is authorized by Law.
9. It is an offence to posses a ballot paper which has been marked with the Electoral Commission official mark.
10. The ballot paper is not for sale. It is an offence to sell or offer to sell a ballot paper to any person or purchase or offer purchase a ballot paper from any person.

11. It is an offence to directly give a gift to a voter to induce him or her to vote in a certain manner.
12. Any person who interferes with electioneering activities of another person had committed an offence.
13. It is an offence to forge, fraudulently deface, or destroy a nomination paper.
14. It is an offence to corruptly accept or take any provision offered in the circumstances as Electoral Officer.
15. It is an offence to corrupt a voter before, during or after election by giving meat, drink, entertainment or any other provision to him or her.
16. It is an offence to use any fraudulent method to prevent the free exercise of the franchise of a voter.
17. Do not communicate to any person any information obtained in a polling station about the candidate for whom a voter in that station has voted for;it is an offence.
18. It is an offence to inflict a spiritual injury or damage on a voter.
19. It is an offence to organize a group of persons with the intention of training the group in the use of force or violence calculated to abuse another person and breach the public peace for unfair advantage, whether this is before, during or after election.
20. If you find a person's voter's ID card on the ground and you fail to surrender the card to the Electoral Commission or Police within seven (7) days, you have committed an offence.
